HMRC phishing email

We're aware that several island residents have received a scam email which purports to be from HM Revenue and Customs

This HMRC tax rebate/refund email scam is quite common and therefore it is very important that islanders are aware of it and remain vigilant.

HM Revenue and Customs would never send notification of a tax rebate or refund by email. Equally, it would never ask you to disclose personal or payment information by email.

Do NOT visit the website or click on any links contained within the scam email as they might contain viruses and malware which could be designed to steal your personal information.

Anyone who receives an email of this nature is asked to forward it to (so that HMRC is aware of it) and then delete it.
